Five for Friday

Hi there! I'll be linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday today. So, let's get started! :)

Over the vacation, I drove to Buffalo and hiked to see the Eternal Flame Waterfall! It was very cool. There's natural gas, so that fire is always burning!

We used highlighter to color our letter tiles during Read Across America Day because they glow in the black light. The kids loved it so much that I've pulled it out again to motivated them during Daily 5!

We are so obsessed with our Osmo! We use it for Math Workshop and Daily 5. The coolest part is that when you buy one, the company donates a free Osmo to another teacher of your choosing! I LOVE THE OSMO! (And so do the kiddos!)
I emailed area colleges and asked for t-shirt donations for our College Shirt Day, which is the first Friday of every month. I did this a while ago, and the kids still wear their college t-shirts the first Friday of the month!

I used the donated college shirts for writing, too! Kids wrote future stories, researched colleges and careers, and wrote thank you letters to the colleges.

  2. Thanks! It was so generous of the colleges to send shirts for free and get the second graders excited about their futures!

  3. We have college shirt Mondays. Our district has started an initiative to discuss college from elementary on. I love it! Plus- we get to wear jeans. Can't beat that! That eternal flame is so cool! I've never heard of that! Thanks for sharing!
