Five for Friday

I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching this week for Five For Friday!

The bulletin board outside my classroom.
Not sure how long it will stay up, but it's nice to have something!
When I'm tired of this, I think I'd like a BRAG BOARD!

Last week, I talked about how I had signed up for the Global Read Aloud! The Global Read Aloudstarts in October. Basically, you're paired up with another class to video chat with about the books assigned. This year it's a Peter Reynolds author study, so it will be GREAT for second grade!

Welp, I have a match! I am paired up with another second grade classroom...one from Canada!

Click the link to find out more! I heard about it from a friend at school, and I really am glad that I did!

So, I also talked last week about how I'm trying SLANTBOX for the first time! Fellow blogger over at Lessons with Coffee sets it up each month. I was paired up with two teachers. One is Carrie who blogs on Follow First Grade  and Krisanna who recently started the blog Simply Secondary

I am sending my package out to Krisanna TODAY!!! And I am SOOOO excited to receive some hometown love from Carrie! Carrie has given me some great advice, since she has taught in second grade before and I'll be teaching in second grade this year! And Krisanna...her classroom and blog are so bright and motivating, something that is sometimes unexpected at the high school level. It's been fun!

TpT is having a BACK TO SCHOOL BOOST SALE on August 20. My entire store will be 20% off. And just for fun...I am having a mini sale today and tomorrow, 10% off. Enjoy!

After a week of curriculum writing and staring at a computer screen, it's nice to spend some time with this cutie!

Monday Made It

I'll be linking up with Tara at Fourth Grade Frolics.
It's time for another Monday Made It!

I feel like a curriculum writing/planning rockstar.
I have been furiously planning for second grade all summer!

For math...
I created Smart Board lessons for all eight modules worth of lessons!
I created a short response (1-2 questions) quiz for EVERY topic!
I made a 4 question quiz for EVERY topic! (a little formative assessment, here we come!)
How about an Around the Room game for each module? Yes, please!
And 30 review questions for every module? YESSS!
Oh, and did I mention a family letter explaining each module and teaching some important vocabulary?

See how much work I've been doing?
I'm very proud of myself!

A Peek at My Week

Today I'm linking up with Jennifer from Mrs. Laffin's Laughings for "A Peek at my Week."

Monday:
I am officially done with summer school!
We have a four week program, and the last day was Friday, so I have a day off today!

I will be staying home and cleaning! While my handyman takes some bushes out of my front yard. Definitely NOT a job I'm capable of doing on my own.

Tuesday:
First day of curriculum writing.
We are focusing this week on ELA.
I'm excited for some professional development and some time to work on the ELA modules from EngageNY. They are a wee bit overwhelming and I definitely need time to figure them out, especially the second grade skills strand.

Wednesday:
More ELA curriculum writing!

Thursday:
And what will today hold?
MORE ELA CURRICULUM WRITING!

Friday:
A day off!
And my parents are coming to visit, so I'll do a little last minute cleaning today.

Tried It Tuesday

Let's link up with Fourth Grade Flipper for Tried It Tuesday!

I set up a Symbaloo page! Basically, it's a single stop for all of your websites. I placed all of my student-friendly websites on my Symbaloo, and then made Symbaloo the homepage for each of the desktop computers in my classroom. No more "favorites" being erased or kids struggling to type in or find websites! Ta da! Symbaloo!

Aaaaaand...

Five for Friday

I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching this week for Five For Friday!

I've decided that I'm going to start my first year teaching second grade with a Roald Dahl author study as a read aloud series! The Twits, Magic Finger, Matilda. I'm psyched!

I signed up for the Global Read Aloud! The Global Read Aloud starts in October. Basically, you're paired up with another class to video chat with about the books assigned. This year it's a Peter Reynolds author study, so it will be GREAT for second grade!

Click the link to find out more! I heard about it from a friend at school, and I really am glad that I did!

So, I'm trying SLANTBOX for the first time! Fellow blogger over at Lessons with Coffee sets it up each month. I was paired up with two teachers. One is Carrie who blogs on Follow First Grade  and Krisanna who recently started the blog Simply Secondary. After we get to know one another better, we'll send out packages that match the theme for the month, which is HOMETOWN LOVE! It should be a lot of fun!

I figured I'd join in the sale! I've been working TIRELESSLY on creating lessons, review activities, formative assessments, and games to go along with the eight second grade math modules. And I finally finished! So, everything is on sale!

Now, I have one month before school starts to get my ELA module lessons done. Yikes.

And there is my smarty pants dog.
She jumped over the back seat and got stuck.
